Why Goode Strokes Swim School ?
-

Drowning Prevention
Drowning is the leading cause of death in young children.
African Americans and Black children ages 5–14 drown in pools at significantly higher rates compared to peers.
Among Black adults, about 37% report that they do not know how to swim, and 63% report never having taken a swimming lesson.
These disparities highlight the urgency of increasing access to swim education, representation, and water safety programming in Black and underserved communities.
-

Inclusivity
Inclusivity is essential because it ensures that every child—regardless of race, ability, background, or neurodiversity—feels safe, represented, and welcome in the water.
Representation of Black and Brown swimmers challenges generational fear and underrepresentation in aquatic spaces.
Inclusive teaching methods—like visual aids, sensory-sensitive instruction, and patience—help autistic and differently-abled children thrive, turning swimming into a joyful, safe, and empowering activity.
-

Expert Instructors
Expert swim instructors combine certified training with patience, empathy, and skill. Each instructor is certified and experienced in teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities—including beginners, children with special needs, and adults overcoming fear of water.
Our instructors prioritize safety, confidence, and joy in every lesson, using clear communication and adaptive techniques to meet each swimmer where they are.
